At Galoche & Patin, we can handle all repair and maintenance services for your Paraboots: fitting sole protectors, cleaning your shoes, resoling… And this applies to all the brand’s models.
The history of Paraboot
Paraboot was founded in 1908 in Izeaux under the name “chaussure extra.” Its creator, Rémi-Alexis Richard, registered the name in 1927.
During a trip to the United States, he discovered rubber on the famous boots trending across the American continent. It turned out to be a very durable material, which gave the creator of Paraboot an idea.
He decided to create leather shoes with rubber soles: the first Paraboot models were born. The name is a combination of “Para,” referring to an Amazonian port from which latex is exported, and “boot,” the shoe discovered in the United States.
Over the decades, Paraboot expanded its range: Paraboot Azay, Paraboot Michael, Paraboot Bergerac, etc.
How to care for your shoes?
Here are a few tips to make your shoes last.
The first step is to avoid wearing the same shoes several days in a row. Remember to rotate your pairs.
Store your shoes in a dry, well-ventilated space away from light. Use shoe trees so your shoes don’t lose their shape; they also help absorb moisture.
The second tip is about applying the right products daily to maintain your Paraboot leather.
To nourish smooth leathers, apply a special leather cream such as Saphir Universal Cream. Rub in small concentric circles with your cloth or polishing rag and finish by buffing with a brush.
For suede or nubuck, use a waterproof spray for daily protection and a specialized brush to remove dust and maintain the density of the suede fibers.
